Moving & such

I’m pretty sure everyone knows this by now, but we’re moving! Brian will be graduating next month (!!!) and has been applying for jobs and interviewing since the beginning of the semester. A couple weeks ago he accepted an offer from a company in Kansas City, so we’ll be moving out there at the beginning of the year. (For those of you who are curious, the company is in Missouri, but we’ll likely live on the Kansas side of the city. It’s close.) Anyway, there’s a lot to do before we move but one thing I’m finding overwhelming is the number of medical type people we’ll have to replace when we get there. When we moved from Texas back to Colorado I had to find an OB and we had to find Kalena a pediatrician. The end. Here’s a list of the doctors (etc) we’ll need when we get to Kansas.

An OB. One who’ll take me at 30 (ish) weeks pregnant and who does VBACs.ย

A pediatrician

A pediatric dentist

A pediatric ophthalmologist

An ENT

And, of course, a whole new early intervention team for Daniel including:

A case manager

An occupational therapist

A physical therapist

A speech therapist

Now, the reality is I’ll probably only have to find an OB and a pediatrician, we’ll get referrals for the other doctors, and Daniel will be assigned a team of therapists when we get in touch with early intervention there. But YOU GUYS! I love all our people here! I can’t imagine finding a pediatrician as good or that I like as much as the one we have here. Or an OT as good with Daniel as his current one. She’s been his therapist since he was 2 months old! Everybody here is so great! I’m so overwhelmed with the idea of all new caregivers.ย

So. Who wants to find me some doctors in Kansas City?

  1. !!!!! Kansas City! So close! I could totally hook you up with our ENT/OB/pediatrician if you were coming to Des Moines and there is an awesome pediatric dentist everyone adores.

  2. Wow, like moving isn’t enough to deal with! If I were in that neck of the woods, I would help, but I don’t think I’ll be very useful from Seattle. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

In unrelated news, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen Daniel doing “So Big!” Any plans to post that again soon? I love his little face.

  3. Moving is always a hard thing, but Kevin and I have already been talking about how much more overwhelming a move would be with Samuel’s special needs. I have so much sympathy for how overwhelming it all must be! I’ll pray that it all goes smoothly.

  4. Good luck with the move, and everything involved! I assume you’ll take I-70 straight through to KC, but if you happen to detour south once you get over the mountains and find yourselves needing to stop in Colorado Springs, let me know! Or, if you stop in Denver, I could PROBABLY (definitely) be persuaded to drive up and meet up with you while you’re there. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Yeah, you might need to schedule in that Denver stop because Kari and I will need to give you all the baby clothes… and it’s A LOT of clothes… so it’s probably easiest if we just meet you in Denver as you drive through with the U-Haul and load it straight to your moving van. Plus, lunch with your sisters.

  6. Hey! How exciting! Chris grew up in Lenexa, KS. His parents are still there. He knows lots about the area if you have any questions. Though Chris doesn’t know any OB/GYNs, his mom might have some suggestions. ๐Ÿ˜‰ we are headed up there for thankgiving. email me if you need to!
